Practical tips on learning a new language

These practical tips on learning a new language are very helpful and will help accelerate your learning in no time

Be consistent:

It is important to show consistency when you are learning a new language. Discipline will get you started but your consistency will ensure that you finish what you have started. It does not matter how little your progress as long as you are consistent and showing up consistently.

Have the right mindset:

When you have the right mindset towards anything you are venturing into, then you are halfway there already. Do not start learning a new language with an attitude of defeat or discouragement. Begin with a positive spirit and determine to keep it up to the end. You will succeed and reach your goals as long as you don’t give up.

Set a goal:

Goal setting is important when learning a new language. Remember that you cannot hit a goal that you cannot see. When you set a goal and hit it, the thrill of achievement will push you to move harder in the right direction. Begin with a goal in mind, from short term goals to achieve.

Tackle in bits:

When setting goals, be mindful that you take them in bits because when we start with goals that are too big, we may find it a herculean task to achieve it but when we break down our long term goals into bits, that way, we are more likely to achieve more.

Practice:

Practice, practice, practice! And do not stop practicing until you have become perfect at it. Practice when you wake up, practice when you are about to sleep, make it a habit and soo, the language will become second nature to you and you will have it at your fingertips.

Make friends that speak the language:

Make friends with a French speaking girl or boy if you are just starting out to learn French and let them know that you are trying to learn the language. Try conversing with them and don’t be afraid to make mistakes as they are your friends and will correct you when you are wrong.

Get someone that can hold you accountable:

Getting someone that you can hold accountable is a good, fast way of learning a new language. This will be someone that you will report back to on your progress so far and he or she will hold you accountable for the goals you have set for yourself.

Be creative:

Use flash cards, use drawings and pictures. There are plenty of ways that you can employ to help you learn faster and make what you are learning stick better. Things stick better when you can see them with your eyes.

Don’t let your mistakes stop you:

Making mistakes is a vital part of learning. Mistakes point out our weaknesses and therefore the areas that we can improve on so do not let your mistakes discourage you.

Don’t quit:

When you do not quit, you will definitely get to your goal. Keep the visual picture of you speaking the language with such fluency that even you would be impressed. When you keep the end goal in mind, you would not want to quit.
