They have an excessive illusion of self importance:
Narcissists always have a sense of importance and grandeur that is just too much. They think too highly of themselves and look down on people that they feel are not up to their level like waitresses, janitors and so on.
Putting others down makes them happy:
They derive joy and happiness from putting down others and because of this, they do it constantly and do it shamelessly. They can call you derogatory names and put you down in public in front of friends because somehow, it makes them feel better.
They desire constant praise:
Due to the fact that a narcissist has grandiose and lofty ideas about himself, he would always desire constant praise and worship. These constant reassurances and hailing feed his ego and when he does not get it, he becomes annoyed and pissed.
They exploit without shame:
Narcissists exploit people that they can and people that are vulnerable and are helpless with them. They are hard wired to do this with little to zero emotions on their victims; they exploit verbally, physically and emotionally.
They hardly have a sense of guilt:
They have killed their conscience and they do not experience guilt when they are meting out abuse to their victims. They can however, put on a show and pretend that they are sorry and regret their actions while in contrast, they are not.

They act differently in public and behind closed doors because they want to show the outside world that they are good people while in fact, they carry out their atrocities and abuse in private.
They are good liars:
They try to cover up their bad tracks and to do this, they lie a lot and pretend to others. Lying helps them cover up their tracks but they become regular liars and they do it every time without thinking.
Their words don’t match their actions:
They tell you one thing and then they go ahead to do a totally different thing altogether. Narcissists do not keep to their words and they are inconsistent in their actions. Their promises and their word do not mean anything to them so they break it easily
They are masters at manipulation:
They are good at reading people’s insecurities and so they can use these insecurities to manipulate you once you open up to them and tell them about these insecurities. They use your emotions against you and it does not mean anything to them.
They target a weaker audience:
Narcissistic people target people that are weak emotionally, those that can tolerate their misbehaviour and those with weaker boundaries and flexible boundaries because they can easily get through.
