HOW TO REACT TO CRITICISM
HOW TO REACT TO CRITICISM

HOW TO REACT TO CRITICISM to avoid the negative effects of the criticism on your life and your progress in achieving all your set goals.

Read full content below:

  • Disintegrate the criticism from yourself: You must understand that you are not that criticism and the criticism is not you. The two entities are separate and they are not the same. Don’t get entangled in the criticism that you are unable to tell when it is a lie or a truth.
  • Don’t let it get to you: One important way of reacting to criticism is to not let it get to you.Oftentimes, when we react emotionally to a critic rather than logic. Reacting emotionally will make you not think straightforward and you get caught in your feelings.
  • Don’t respond violently: The worst way to react to a negative criticism is to respond violently because usually, when we respond in that manner, we are doing that from a place of emotion rather than thinking it out logically with a clear mind.
  • Breathe: Take a step back and breathe. It is not the end of the world especially if you have so many negative criticisms pouring down on you at once. Take a moment to relax, sleep over it if you can. People’s criticisms are just their opinions and they do not know you so well that they know you more than yourself.
  • Is there a truth in the criticism: You should take a moment to sieve through the criticism and ask if there is truth in what your critics are projecting or is it just a bunch of lies. If there is some truth in it, is there something you can do about it? Remember that the goal is to be better everyday.
  • It is not about you: It is not always about you. Stop thinking that the world revolves around you. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and there is only one thing you can do about it: regulate what you allow into your life.
  • Occupy yourself positively: When you occupy yourself with positivity and positive vibes all the time, it will be difficult to allow unnecessary negative criticism to get to you. Be a positive vibe, radiate with positivity and see your life change for the better.
  • Don’t overthink it: You do not need to put in too much thought about naysayers. The trick is to search within and become comfortable with yourself, know yourself because when you do, and someone tells you something that is not true to you, you simply won’t believe it.
  • Keep moving: No matter the avalanche of criticism that gets to you, keep it moving and don’t stop. The goal is progress and not perfection, and you should be more invested in yourself, your goals, your dreams and your future than anyone else.
  • Glean your lessons: You can always find a positive lesson in any negative situation. What can you learn from the critics and what they are saying about you? What can you do better? Think about it.
