In this content we show you 7 Things Procrastination Can Cost You in life which you must look to avoid if you want to make progress in life
Yes, sometimes and once in a while, we all procrastinate as long as you don’t make it a habit. However if you are, check out our post on how to stop procrastination.
As we all might have heard, procrastination is the thief of time. So anytime you procrastinate, you are wasting your time and wasting valuable time.
The cost of procrastination can range from the seemingly little things like missing a flight to much harder things like losing a job due to the incompetence that comes with procrastination.
Procrastination can cost you a lot! But you do not have to wait till you lose it all before you begin to watch yourself. Take actions when you are supposed to.
Here are 7 things that procrastination can cost you if you do not quit the bad habit:
Time:
This is the first and most obvious thing that procrastination will do to you.
When you are a habitual procrastinator, you would keep putting things off instead of buckling up and getting it done at the moment which would save you a whole lot of time. Remember that wasted money can be recovered but wasted time cannot be recovered. Guard your time jealously and don’t let anyone, not even yourself, steal your time away from you. Remember that you don’t have all the time in the world so get to work on that task!
Money:
Procrastination can cost you money. Take this story as an example, this may have happened to you before or something very similar. You are supposed to register for a course at a discounted price but then you kept on postponing the registration and after sometime, the price for the course went up. This means you are going to have to spend more money than you could have if you hadn’t procrastinated.
Does this story ring a bell?
Well, it does to me too! Procrastination can cost you money in more ways than one!
Opportunities:
Procrastination can cost you opportunities that could have otherwise changed your life for the better. When you fail to maximize opportunities coming your way and you keep putting it off, you run a risk of missing out on the good things life has to offer.
Learn to grab onto opportunities that come your way without putting it off till later. Some opportunities do not come after they are gone. And even if they do, you might not be able to gain as much as you could have gained if you had seized that opportunity. Act fast and act smart, do not let great and amazing things pass you by because of procrastination. Procrastination is the thief of time, and opportunities too.
The cost of procrastination is the life you could have lived
Competence:
Procrastination can cost you competence in your field. Procrastination is related to laziness and when you fail to put in the work required to be a master at your craft, you become incompetent and outdated. Remember that competence is necessary for you to not only survive in your field but to also thrive. It is also to be ahead of the game because if you are not ahead, then you are behind and we know what happens to the last, they lose out! Drop the habit of procrastination like hot potatoes and stop putting off the work you need to do. Remember to be above and not mediocre.
The Life of your dreams:
Procrastination can make you miss out on the life that you have always dreamt of because most times, our dream life would
require us to work hard, smart and utilize our time in order for us to get there. When you procrastinate, you are putting more distance between yourself and the life that you promised yourself in the beginning. Don’t allow yourself to be another statistic of the dreamers with no action taken.
Relationships:
Procrastination can cost you very valuable relationships. If you keep putting off communication, it is seen as disrespectful. When you keep putting off rendering the apology you are supposed to render to your partner, you show disregard. If you keep putting off quality time together, chances are that you would be seen as a selfish person. You do not only not have the other person’s interest at heart but you will also be seen as untrustworthy and this could cost you precious relationships.
Trust:
Procrastination can cost you your trust. When people realize that you keep procrastinating and failing to meet deadlines or keep to your words, the chances of them trusting you with anything reasonable is slim. You will not be trusted with important tasks. This could cripple your promotion and the level you are supposed to attain in life.
